Rainbow Schools welcome new Principals this September

Ashleigh Conley has been appointed Principal of Adamsdale Public School. Principal Conley joined the Board in 2008 as a teacher at Northeastern Elementary School. Since then, she has taught a variety of grades at several schools. Ashleigh Conley has been Vice-Principal of Redwood Acres Public School since 2016. For the past four years, she has been Principal of the Board’s Kindergarten Camp. She looks forward to working alongside the entire Adamsdale Public School community.

Tracey Chapman is the new Principal of Assiginack Public School. Previously, Tracey Chapman served as Principal of Charles C. McLean Public School in Gore Bay and Central Manitoulin Public School in Mindemoya. Since joining the Board in 1995, Tracey Chapman has taught various grades from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in both Sudbury and Manitoulin Island, including two years at Assiginack Public School. Principal Chapman has been an administrator on Manitoulin Island since 2002. She looks forward to rejoining the school community in Manitowaning.

Jamie Mohamed assumes the leadership of Charles C. McLean Public School. Principal Mohamed joined the Board in September 1997 at Manitoulin Secondary School where he taught a variety of subjects. He has served as Vice-Principal of Manitoulin Secondary School and Espanola High School. Jamie Mohamed was promoted Principal of Little Current Public School in September 2008. He returned to Manitoulin Secondary School as Principal in 2017. Jamie Mohamed looks forward to working with staff, students, parents/guardians and the community of Gore Bay.

Heather Pennie becomes Principal of Little Current Public School, where she has served as Vice-Principal. She has been Principal of Assiginack Public School since 2018. Since joining the Board in 2002, Heather Pennie has taught all grades in the elementary panel, with a focus on the integration of technology for student learning. A versatile educator, Heather Pennie received the William N. Roman Teacher of the Year Award in 2014. She looks forward to returning to the school community in Little Current.

Christy Case has been appointed Principal of Manitoulin Secondary School. Christy Case has served as Principal of Charles C. McLean Public School, Central Manitoulin Public School and, most recently, Little Current Public School. Prior to becoming a Principal, she was Vice-Principal of Little Current Public School. Christy Case has taught various grades from Kindergarten to Grade 8 in Rainbow Schools on Manitoulin Island. She has also been a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing. She looks forward to working with students, staff, parents/guardians and the community of Manitoulin Secondary School.

Jodie Pakkala has been appointed Principal of Princess Anne Public School. She has been the Principal of Adamsdale Public School since 2016. Previously, she served as Vice-Principal at Princess Anne Public School. Prior to becoming an administrator, Jodie Pakkala taught a variety of grades at Churchill Public School since joining the Board in 2000. Principal Pakkala believes in building strong relationships with staff, students, families and the school community to ensure student success. She looks forward to her new role at Princess Anne Public School.

Daniel Koziar will share his expertise on a system-wide level as Principal of Program for Kindergarten to Grade 6. Most recently, he has been Principal of Princess Anne Public School. He also served as Principal of Lansdowne Public School and Vice-Principal of A.B. Ellis Public School. Since joining the Board in 2003, Daniel Koziar has taught a variety of elementary grades and contributed to system-wide events. He was also Principal of the Summer Learning Program. Daniel Koziar received the Barbara Konarek Memorial Award in 2014 in recognition of his work in special education. He welcomes the opportunity to contribute to learning and teaching in an expanded leadership role.
