Kaleb Sauvé of Lasalle Secondary School captured top honours at the FedNor Business Plan Challenge. Future entrepreneurs from Greater Sudbury and Manitoulin area showcased their creativity and business acumen on June 4, 2014. Over 70 students from six schools competed for the title of Best Business Plan throughout the day at Cambrian College.
Kaleb Sauvé’s business, Klarion, is a 3D graphics service that constructs and customizes interior and exterior spaces in a 3D environment for customers who may pursue interior renovations or landscape upgrades. He received over $8,500 in prizes, including $1,000 from FedNor through the Regional Business Centre, a $2,500 bursary for any post secondary school in Sudbury generously given by the City of Greater Sudbury and $5,000 in radio advertising courtesy of Q92 and KISS 105.3.
A number of students from Rainbow Schools won awards at the 2014 FedNor Business Plan Challenge including Lasalle Secondary School, Confederation Secondary School and Lively District Secondary School. Participants were asked to develop a realistic, innovative and comprehensive business plan along with a trade show booth to showcase their work. Local business leaders judged the competition.
“Trade shows provide an authentic learning experience for students by bringing together the classroom curriculum and the business world,” said Rainbow District School Board Director of Education Norm Blaseg. “The FedNor Business Challenge gives students an opportunity to experience what it is like to be an entrepreneur.”
