Redundant teachers for 2008-2009 school year

Rainbow District School Board is pleased to report that all of the teachers who were declared redundant earlier this spring have been either been re-hired or offered some form of employment for the upcoming school year.

“We issued redundancy notices to 75 teachers in March as a result of declining enrolment,” said Director of Education Jean Hanson.

"As of today, 57 teachers have been placed in permanent positions, either full-time or part-time."

The remaining teachers have been offered either long-term occasional work or an opportunity to do supply teaching.

Positions became available as a result of retirements, resignations and maternity/parental leaves.
