Rick Bartolucci announces funding for the new MacLeod Public School

Greater Sudbury – The provincial government is providing better places for students to learn through an investment of $31 million to build three new schools in Sudbury, Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci announced today.

“These investments will support improved school infrastructure,” said Bartolucci.  “We are helping students, strengthening the economy and creating quality jobs."

Rainbow District School Board will receive $13,151,236 for a new elementary school to replace MacLeod Public School.

"We commend the Province for investing in the revitalization of Rainbow Schools, ensuring that students continue to have access to the best programming possible in quality school facilities," said Rainbow District School Board Chair Tyler Campbell.

He added: "This funding will support the building of a new green school on the MacLeod Public School site. The sustainable design will foster environmental awareness within the school and community, create a healthier environment for students and staff, and develop a culture of conservation while minimizing operating expenses."

“Investing in local schools is critical to helping every child reach his or her full potential,” concluded Bartolucci.  “Our government is committed to making the necessary investments and planning to ensure the future success of our children and grandchildren.”
