Schools welcome new Principals effective September 4, 2012
Some of the Rainbow District School Board’s elementary schools will welcome new Principals when classes resume on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Christy Case
Principal
Charles C. McLean Public School (JK to Grade 8, English)
Christy Case will join Charles C. McLean Public School in Gore Bay as Principal. Prior to this appointment, she served as Vice-Principal of Little Current Public School for the past two and a half years. She was also a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing. Christy Case has taught various grades from Kindergarten to Grade 8 in Rainbow Schools on Manitoulin Island. She looks forward to working with students, staff, parents and the community of Charles C. McLean Public School.
Pam DeMarco
Principal
Monetville Public School (JK to Grade 8, English)
Pam DeMarco is returning to Monetville Public School where she served as Principal from 2004 to 2009. She has been Principal of Chelmsford Public School for the past three years. A versatile educator with 21 years of experience in public education locally, she has worked with students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, as a classroom teacher and school administrator. She has also served as Vice-Principal or Lead Teacher at Jessie Hamilton Public School. Principal DeMarco looks forward to working with students, staff and school community partners at Monetville Public School.
Paula Mackey
Principal
Markstay Public School (JK to Grade 8, English)
Paula Mackey has been appointed Principal of Makstay Public School. For the past three years, she has served as Principal of Monetville Public School. Prior to this, she was Vice-Principal of Northeastern Elementary School and George Vanier Public School. Principal Mackey has worked with many community partners to enhance all aspects of student life. A former junior/intermediate teacher, she continues to be actively involved in the Science Fair and Entrepreneurship Fair. Paula Mackey is a graduate of Lasalle Secondary School. She looks forward to working with students, staff, parents and partners.
Cathy Nursall
Principal
R.H. Murray Public School (JK to Grade 8, English)
Cathy Nursall has been appointed Principal of R.H. Murray Public School. Over the past two years, she has served as Principal of Wanup Public School. Prior to that, Cathy Nursall served as Vice-Principal of Valley View Public School and MacLeod Public School. Cathy Nursall has taught all grades from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 at a number of Rainbow Schools, primarily in the French Immersion program. She began her teaching career in Toronto before moving to Sudbury in 1985. Principal Nursall looks forward to leading the team at R.H. Murray Public School.
Danielle Williamson
Principal
Chelmsford Public School (JK to Grade 6, English and French Immersion)
Danielle Williamson is the new Principal of Chelmsford Public School. For the past two years, she has served as Principal of R.H. Murray Public School. Prior to this, she was Vice-Principal of Wembley Public School and Northeastern Elementary School, and was Lead Teacher at Markstay Public School. Principal Williamson has been a primary, junior and intermediate teacher in a number of Rainbow Schools. By building strong relationships with students, parents and community members, Principal Williamson looks forward to ensuring success for all at Chelmsford Public School.
Stephen Winckel
Principal
Levack Public School (JK to Grade 8, English and French Immersion)
Stephen Winckel has been appointed Principal of Levack Public School, a community school known for its pursuit of academic excellence in both official languages. He served as Principal of Markstay Public School for the past four years. Prior to this, he was Vice-Principal of R.L. Beattie Public School and Lansdowne Public School. He also taught in a number of elementary schools. Actively involved in elementary athletics, he has coached award-winning basketball teams. Principal Winckel is a graduate of the French Immersion program at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School.
