What’s happening in Rainbow Schools?

Screen for COVID-19 as part of your morning routine

With the school year set to begin, Rainbow District School Board reminds parents/guardians that they are required to use the COVID-19 School Screening Tool daily, assess how their children are feeling, and ensure students stay home if they are sick. Secondary students can self-screen and monitor for symptoms.

The Ministry of Education has directed school boards and schools to perform daily confirmation of self-screening for all students for the first two weeks of school. Students in Grades 7 to 12 will confirm at school that they have completed the screening tool. Schools will ask parents/guardians of students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 to submit a form to confirm that they have completed the screening tool for their children.

“As we reopen Rainbow Schools, we must remember that we all have a role to play in limiting the spread of COVID-19,” said Director of Education Bruce Bourget. “This begins at home before leaving for school. It’s important that all students screen for COVID-19 as part of their morning routine. Daily screening is required throughout the school year.” He added:
“We kindly remind our students that if they are sick to please stay home.”

The COVID-19 School Screening Tool can be accessed online:

Updates have been made to the list of symptoms, to the timeline for isolation, and to the guidance for people who are fully vaccinated or have tested positive in the last 90 days.

Students who are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 as identified in the screening tool must not attend school and should follow the guidance provided in the screening tool, which may include seeking appropriate medical attention as required, and/or getting tested for COVID-19.

Other health and safety protocols are outlined in the Reopening Guide for Rainbow Schools which is available at rainbowschools.ca.
