The 5th Annual Lasalle Secondary School SISU Family Walk in partnership with Sling-Choker will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2022.

Participants will gather at 10:30 am to embark on a six-kilometre journey from Lasalle Secondary School to Finlandia Village’s Voima Hall.

“Lasalle Secondary School is committed to promoting lifelong health and wellness for all,” says Principal Kristina Rivard Gobbo. “We also take great pride in supporting our seniors and the community we call home.”

She adds: “Members of the public are welcome to show their SISU and join our efforts by making a donation and/or participating in the walk.”

This year’s fundraising goal is $10,000. To date, more than $100,000 has been raised for fitness equipment, outdoor trails and signage, as well as a gardening project at Finlandia Village.

Donations are being accepted online at bit.ly/SISUWalk2022.

Funds raised this year will continue to support outdoor walking trails and equipment. A fully accessible trail system, which winds its way around the property, is developed and partially built. A portion is also signed. Future work will include self-directed exercise stops and more outdoor equipment to enhance the physical benefits of exercise while walking the trails.

“On behalf of Lasalle Secondary School, I extend a sincere thank you to students, families, staff and community members as we join together to support the health and wellness of our seniors,” says Principal Kristina Rivard Gobbo. “Kiitos!”
