Sudbury Secondary presents Dear Edwina in newly renovated auditorium

The curtains at Sudbury Secondary School’s newly renovated Sheridan Auditorium will open for the first time with the presentation of Dear Edwina. The play will take to the stage on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 7 pm and Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 2 pm.

“This is a historic occasion for us as we launch our first school production in our newly renovated theatre,” says Principal Paul Camillo. “Those who attend the play will have an opportunity to experience our new seats, new stage and new lighting while enjoying a top-notch performance by our talented students and staff.”

Dear Edwina, by Marcy Heisler, follows 13-year old Edwina Spoonapple who would do just about anything to be part of the Kalamazoo Advice-a-palooza Festival. While her siblings both have proof “up on the fridge” of their accomplishments, poor Edwina has nothing. When a talent scout from the convention visits her hometown of Paw Paw, Michigan, she trots out her musical advice-giving show live from the family garage in hopes of finding her place in the spotlight.

The play is directed and choreographed by teacher Line Roberge with Sudbury Secondary School Grade 12 drama student April Perrin as assistant choreographer.

“This show is for children, about children,” says Roberge.  “It is an absolutely adorable production. Children and adults alike won’t be able to hold back their laughter.”

“We are so excited to be back on our home stage at the Sheridan Auditorium,” says Jackson Picard, who plays the role of Billy in the production. “Dear Edwina is the perfect inaugural play.  We know that the audience will have as much fun watching the play as we have had creating it.”

Admission to the play is $10 for adults and $8 for students/seniors. Tickets are available at Sudbury Secondary School’s main office at 154 College Street. Tickets will also be available at the door.
