Summer School: In-person remedial and upgrading secondary courses

Rainbow District School Board will offer in-person Summer School remedial and upgrading courses at the secondary level. To register, students must have taken the course during the current academic school year.

Classes will be offered from Monday, July 4, 2022 to Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Sudbury Secondary School, Adult Day School.

During the first seven days of the program, Period 1 classes will run from 8 am to 10:30 am and Period 2 classes from 10:45 am to 1:15 pm. Class times will change on the eighth day – Wednesday, July 13, 2022 – until the end of Summer School and run from 8:30 am to 10:30 am and 10:45 am to 12:45 pm.

Students must have access to a computer and the Internet in the event there are public health restrictions that require a pivot to remote learning.

If courses switch to remote, students will work 2.5 hours per day in a combination of synchronous (online video chat together as a group) and asynchronous (independently with teacher support) learning that will be determined by the teacher and communicated to the students.

Summer School courses include English, Math, Science, History, Geography, Civics and Careers. Courses are open to all students from public and separate schools.

Courses will run subject to sufficient enrolment and teacher availability. Summer School staff will contact students once course scheduling is determined for Periods 1 and Period 2.

Board transportation is not provided for Summer School.

Students can register through their home school before Friday, June 24, 2022.

The last day to register for Summer School is Monday, July 4, 2022 by contacting the Summer School Principal directly at [email protected].
