Thank you Sudbury: Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive raises $45,000

Lockerby Composite School’s Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive was a tremendous success. Together, students and staff raised $45,000 for the Health Sciences North Foundation and pediatric cancer care in the north.

Lockerby Composite School’s dedicated students and staff, supported by enthusiastic volunteers, hit the streets on October 24, 2024 armed with an infectious school spirit. Residents gave generously to a campaign that has become an annual tradition for the school and the community.

“On behalf of Lockerby Composite School, I extend a sincere thank you to all those who contributed to the success of this initiative once again this year,” says Principal Ryan Lafraniere. “We are extremely grateful to the residents of Sudbury who continue to support our Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive. We also appreciate the local businesses that provide donations.”

The Drive reached a milestone in 2022, having raised over one million dollars for pediatric cancer research and care programs. To honour this milestone, the pediatric chemotherapy waiting room displays a plaque acknowledging the generations of Lockerby students and staff who have made a difference in cancer care.

With this year’s donations, Lockerby Composite School has raised $1,114,000 for pediatric cancer care in the north – all in memory of Laura Cotesta.
