Three Rainbow Schools welcome new Principals

Three Rainbow Schools welcomed new Principals on Friday, February 1st, 2013. Bob Deeth became Principal of Sudbury Secondary School, Michael Bellrose became Principal of Algonquin Road Public School, and Jim Wachnuk became Principal of C.R. Judd Public School.

Bob Deeth, Principal, Sudbury Secondary School

Bob Deeth began his career in education at Sudbury Secondary School in 1988. Since then, he has been a teacher, Department Head, Program Leader, Vice-Principal and Principal at a number of secondary schools and elementary schools. Bob Deeth served as Program Leader of Sport at Sudbury Secondary School for six years before assuming a senior leadership role. In 2000, he was appointed Vice-Principal of Lasalle Secondary School. He served in that role for four years, then transferred to Chelmsford Valley District Composite School for one year.  Bob Deeth joined the elementary panel in 2005. He has been Principal of Algonquin Road Public School for the past three years. Bob Deeth is a long-time coach and convenor of sports at the local and provincial levels. Principal Deeth welcomes the opportunity to lead the new Sudbury Secondary School into the future.

Michael Bellrose, Principal, Algonquin Road Public School

Michael Bellrose has been an educator with Rainbow District School Board for 23 years. He has been Principal of C.R. Judd Public School since 2008. Prior to his transfer to Capreol, he served as Vice-Principal of Algonquin Road Public School and Long Lake Public School from 2005 to 2007. In addition to his senior leadership roles with the Board, Michael Bellrose has taught Junior Kindergarten, Grades 4, 5, 7, 8 and Early Reading Intervention.  He has also coached for more than 15 years and is currently coaching basketball and Nordic skiing. Principal Bellrose has been a curriculum reviewer for the Ministry of Education and is a book / software reviewer for Professionally Speaking, the magazine of the Ontario College of Teachers. Principal Bellrose looks forward to returning to Algonquin Road Public School, which has recently been renovated.

Jim Wachnuk, Principal, C.R. Judd Public School
 
Jim Wachnuk joined Rainbow District School Board in 1993. He has worked at several schools across the Greater Sudbury area. A versatile educator, he has taught all grades in the elementary panel as well as Core French. Jim Wachnuk was promoted to a senior leadership role in 2004. After serving as Vice-Principal of Northeastern Elementary School for a year and a half, he was transferred to Sudbury West where he worked as a Vice-Principal at Jessie Hamilton Public School, George Vanier Public School and Walden Public School. He has been Vice-Principal of Valley View Public School for the past three years. Jim Wachnuk co-ordinates the Rainbow District School Board’s New Teacher Induction Program on behalf of the elementary panel. He looks forward to meeting the students, parents/guardians and staff of C.R. Judd Public School in his new role as Principal.
