Tickets on sale now for Guitars Alive on Saturday, April 10th

Guitars Alive will take place on Saturday, April 10th at 7:30 pm at Sudbury Secondary School’s Sheridan Auditorium. This year’s show will feature a Guitar Party to celebrate 100 years of the guitar and its evolution from classical to blues and jazz to rock.

The concert will begin with guitar ensembles from Chelmsford Public School, Larchwood Public School and Levack Public School and continue with groups from Lively District Secondary School and Lasalle Secondary School. The concert will showcase the popular Carter Umpherson Bluegrass Duo and the Cambrian College Guitar Ensembles, featuring Jamie Dupuis, a talented young soloist.

Following a brief intermission, Guitars Alive will present a unique retrospective of the guitar in the 20th century, featuring many of Sudbury’s top musicians. Performers will include Guitars Alive producers Philip Candelaria, Gary DiSalle, and Paul Dunn; Paul DiSalle, Dan Vaillancourt, Don Leuschen, and Marc Savard on guitar; Peter Scherzinger on trumpet; Jean-Yves Begin on saxophone; Sarah Craig and Hilary Welch on vocals; Tom Linklater and Brian Quebec on bass; and Sean Perras on drums.

All proceeds from Guitars Alive ticket sales will go towards music, educational materials and scholarships for Sudbury guitar students and the Sudbury Kiwanis Festival.

Tickets are $15 for regular admission and $12 for students, seniors and children.

Tickets are available at Black Cat, Jett Landry Music, Guitar Clinic, Dupont’s Guitar Shop, Cosmic Dave’s Guitar Emporium, the Cambrian College Bookstore, and the Sudbury Secondary School box office. Tickets will also be available at the door.
