Tree being planted at MacLeod Public School in memory of Daphne Kochar
MacLeod Public School will honour the memory of Daphne Kochar by planting a maple tree on school grounds on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 9:30 am.
“This year marks the 10th anniversary of Daphne Kochar’s passing and the maple tree was one of her favourites,” says Principal Lynn MacDonell.
She adds: “Daphne Kochar was an active volunteer at MacLeod Public School when her children were students here. The tree will serve as a visual reminder of the importance of volunteering.”
As the tree matures, it will represent the growth that comes to those who make a contribution and those who benefit from their efforts.
It will also be a symbol of the care and support that students receive when all partners in education – the school, the home and the community – work together towards a common goal.
“The tree in memory of Daphne Kochar will be a welcome addition to our school grounds, which have been designed with a focus on sustainability,” says Principal MacDonell.
“MacLeod Public School is proud to be the Rainbow District School Board’s third green school. Our school grounds are an extension of our go green initiatives which aim to build good citizens who care about each other and the world in which we live.”
