Walden Home Hardware Hosts Tree Canada Plant at LDSS

School grounds with trees planted
Trees generously donated by Walden Home Hardware were planted in the schoolyard at Lively District Secondary School.

Walden Home Hardware and Tree Canada celebrated National Tree Day on Wednesday, September 27th, 2017 by planting 16 mature trees at Lively District Secondary School.

The tree planting, celebrating Lively District Secondary School’s 60th anniversary, honoured the memory of long-standing principal Charles Tuttle and paid tribute to the community for its support of the school.

National Tree Day falls on the Wednesday of National Forest Week.

This day is celebrated across the country with tree dedications, plantings, educational workshops, outdoor education walks, interpretive days, schoolyard plantings and seminars.

Rainbow District School Board thanks Corey and Lonnie Doherty, Dealer-Owners of Walden Home Hardware, for choosing Lively District Secondary School for this celebration amidst Canada’s 150th birthday.

This is the first year that Walden Home Hardware has participated in Home Hardware’s annual tree plants with Tree Canada.
