Parent/Guardian Communications
Parent/Guardian Communication Process
I have a suggestion/comment/question/concern about my child. Who do I contact?
STEP 1: Classroom teacher
Parents/guardians are encouraged to make an appointment with the classroom teacher in order to avoid any disruption to instruction, ensure confidentiality and respect time constraints.
STEP 2: School Principal, Vice-Principal or Designate
If the parent/guardian and the teacher are not able to resolve the concern, the parent/guardian may discuss the concern with the principal, vice-principal or designate. The parent/guardian is encouraged to make an appointment, and the principal, vice-principal or designate may ask the parent/guardian to put the concerns in writing.
The principal, vice-principal or designate will gather facts from everyone involved to clarify the concern and work to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
STEP 3: Appropriate Superintendent
If the parent/guardian and the school principal, vice-principal or designate are not able to resolve the matter, the parent/guardian may contact the appropriate superintendent. The superintendent will review the matter as it relates to established policies and procedures and respond to the parent/guardian about the concerns.
STEP 4: Director of Education
If the parent/guardian and the superintendent are not able to reach a resolution, the parent/guardian may discuss the matter with the director of education.
Trustees
Trustees play a governance role within the school board with a focus on improving student achievement and well-being. They establish the overall strategic directions and approve the annual budget which enables the board to achieve its priorities.
As advocates for excellence in education, Trustees will guide parents/guardians with the communication process. They will also refer requests for assistance to the appropriate staff member for follow up.
Requests will be acknowledged within two business days.
Parents/guardians can expect a follow up within 10 business days.
