Rural and Northern Education Funding
As part of its plan to strengthen rural and northern education, the Ministry of Education announced on June 28, 2017 (Memo 2017: B09) a Rural and Northern Education supplement of $20 million as an enhancement to the Grants for Student Needs (GSN). The funding will allow school boards to further improve education for students in rural communities.
Each board must report publicly on how these funds will be used as well as which schools are recipients of RNEF support.
For 2021-2022, Rainbow District School Board received $ 434,226.

These expenses were focused on 21st Century learning technology, field trips, instructional materials in classrooms as well as school operating costs. The balance of funding was allocated to central supports.
