Seven Grandfather Awards

Using criteria created by staff, students and Elders, schools will select award recipients representing each of the Seven Grandfather Teachings:

Humility – Dbaadendiziwie – The wolf
Bravery – Aakidewie – The bear
Honesty – Gwekwaadziwie – The raven
Wisdom – Nbwaakaawie – The beaver
Truth – Debwewie – The turtle
Respect – Mnaadendomowie – The buffalo
Love – Zaagidwie – The eagle

These awards were originally created at the Mishko-Ode-Wendam School, a Rainbow school in partnership with Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre and are now implemented in all Rainbow secondary schools.
